About This Game
The King is Watching is a roguelite strategy and kingdom-building game released for the Nintendo Switch in July 2026. You rule a small kingdom from atop your castle, and the kingdom only works while you are watching it: peasants farm, miners dig, and soldiers train only within the king’s gaze, and the moment your attention moves elsewhere, they stop. Every run becomes a juggling act, as your limited gaze has to cover the wheat fields, the mines, and the barracks while enemy forces gather outside your walls.
Gameplay is built around production chains and defense. Water, wheat, stone, coal, and silver feed your farms, workshops, and army, and each run builds toward fights against waves of enemies led by a boss, from goblin warlords to dragons. Runs play out across different lands such as cursed graveyards and volcanic depths, and completing challenges unlocks new kings, each with a different governing style, from granting new building blueprints to raising fallen soldiers as undead warriors. Progress carries permanently between runs, and higher Threat Levels can be switched on to make later reigns harder.
