About This Game
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is an action-adventure game for the Nintendo Switch, released in July 2021. A remastered version of the 2011 Wii title, it tells the earliest story in the series timeline. Link lives in Skyloft, a city floating above the clouds, until his friend Zelda is pulled down to the unknown surface world. He follows her below, beginning a quest that leads to the forging of the Master Sword.
The game combines exploration, puzzle-filled dungeons, and motion-based sword combat, where the direction of each swing matches the player’s input. The HD version adds button-only controls as an alternative to motion controls, along with visual upgrades and quality-of-life changes such as optional hints, autosave, and faster dialogue. Link travels between the sky and three surface regions using a loftwing and discovers shortcuts across the land. Boss encounters include the demon lord Ghirahim and the imprisoned beast sealed beneath the Sealed Grounds.
