About This Game
Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a puzzle-platform game from Nintendo, released for the Nintendo Switch in February 2024 as a remake of the 2004 Game Boy Advance game. Donkey Kong has raided the toy factory and stolen the Mini Mario toys, and Mario sets out across eight worlds to win them back, chasing his rival from level to level until each world ends in a direct showdown with Donkey Kong himself.
Each level is split into two parts: first Mario has to find the key and carry it to the locked door, then free the Mini Mario waiting on the other side. Colored switches change which platforms and ladders are active, hammers clear enemies out of the way, and moves like the handstand and the backflip reach spots that normal jumps cannot. The remake brings the total to more than 130 levels, including two new worlds, Merry Mini-Land and Slippery Summit, plus harder Plus versions of the levels and Expert stages. Players can choose Casual style, which removes the time limit and adds checkpoints, or Classic style, which follows the rules of the original game, and a second player can join locally as Toad to solve levels together in co-op, with a Time Attack mode unlocking once the game is finished.
