About This Game
Super Mario Galaxy is a 3D platform game from Nintendo, originally released for the Wii in 2007. It came to Nintendo Switch first through the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection in 2020, followed by a standalone re-release alongside Super Mario Galaxy 2 in September 2025. The story follows Mario as he travels across space with Rosalina and the Lumas to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, collecting 120 Power Stars across approximately 42 galaxies.
Levels are built on small spherical planetoids, each with its own gravitational pull, allowing Mario to run around planets and leap between them using Launch Stars. Power-ups include Bee Mario, Boo Mario, Fire Mario, Ice Mario, and Spring Mario. Optional storybook chapters in the hub observatory detail Rosalina’s backstory, and collecting all 120 stars unlocks a second playthrough as Luigi.
